Places to Stay in Nags Head, NC: Campgrounds

People looking for campgrounds in Nags Head, NC, might be surprised to find that there are no campgrounds in the town limits (and camping is most definitely not allowed on the beach). However, the National Park Service’s Oregon Inlet Campground is very close to Nags Head, only about 8 miles south, in Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The campground is on N.C. Highway 12 and a quick and easy drive from Nags Head. Other Outer Banks places like Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Roanoke Island and Hatteras Island offer camping places to stay near Nags Head, NC. One thing to consider when camping on the Outer Banks is that if you’re tent camping, you’ll probably need extra-long tent stakes for anchoring in the sand. If you’re camping in summer or fall, be sure to bring bug repellent as well.
