Making a huge splash onto the summer scene in 2017, H2OBX is hottest spot for cooling off for both locals and visitors. Expertly planned by the Aquatic Development Group, the country's leading water park designers, the site contains some of the most innovative aqua rides in the country. Located just 3 miles north of the Wright Memorial Bridge in Currituck County (visitors from the north will see the park on their right as they're just about to get to the Outer Banks), the setting is uniquely surrounded by gorgeous sound-to-sea panoramas from the massive slide towers. Themed after Outer Banks sights and legends, the park’s attractions present a range of thrill levels for an all-age day of adventure. Little squirts can frolic around the Sand Pail Beach, an active soak and play area where they can go with the flow on five rippling slides. Or they can check out Calico Jack’s Cove, a pirate-themed water romp with seven slides and at least 70 interactive fixtures including some light obstacle challenges. The family can also climb aboard several raft adventures together, like the six-story Rogue Wave, and then get drenched on the Queen Anne’s Revenge, which features aqualucent lighting effects. Then, head over to the Twin Tides to catch a few breakers on the Endless Wave Flowrider surfing simulator. The more daring (taller than four feet) can turn their adrenaline up to MAX taking the Paradise Plunge, an 80-foot free fall, or while blasting through the five-story rush of the Riptide. When it’s time to recharge, feed your hunger at one of four distinct meal stops, and find a seat to rest in one of many comfortable shaded areas. They also have more than 50 private cabanas for reservation, giving your group more personal space to soak in some relaxation. As an added bonus, the park extends into the Wright Stuff retail center, where you can slip some treasure hunting into your quest for fun.
