For those entering the Outer Banks via the Wright Memorial Bridge, Kitty Hawk and Southern Shores (Kitty Hawk on the right, Southern Shores on the left) serve as their gateway to the beach. The things to do in Kitty Hawk, NC, capitalize on its sound and ocean environments. Watersports activities reign supreme here, but the pedestrian and multiuse paths also provide safe environments for walking, running, biking and skating around the town. There are historic beach cottages, neighborhoods tucked away in the maritime woods and beautiful homes that overlook the sound. Restaurants range from drive-ins with seafood baskets and beach fries, romantic Italian bistros, wine bars and open-air decks that showcase ocean views. It’s not a big town, but it’s full of bustle – come experience Kitty Hawk and all it has going on.
