Get away from the town’s hustle and bustle and experience the things to do in Kitty Hawk’s wilder side at refuges and reserves. You can’t tell it from traveling on the Bypass and Beach Road, but Kitty Hawk’s natural environment supports a diverse and extensive ecosystem. Take a walk or stroll through the maritime woods, and admire the gray foxes, white-tailed deer, turtles, herons and even possibly glimpse a coyote in the shade of the oak and wax myrtle trees.
