Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head offers some of the best ocean fishing on the entire Outer Banks. If you don’t want to fish, you can simply walk out on the 1,000-foot-long concrete and wood structure to see what people are catching. Visitors might also see surfers riding waves, passing boats, sea turtles swimming, brown pelicans overhead, bottlenose dolphins playing or even an occasional whale spouting at the surface. Catch unbelievable beautiful sunrises over the Atlantic Ocean. Fishing passes are $14 and walk-out passes are $2; children 12 and under pay $7 and $1.
This state-of-the-art facility also has large aquariums inside the pier house along with educational exhibits, restrooms and a newly remodeled Pier Shop. Check our Surfside Classroom or sign up for Family Fishing offered weekdays all summer at 9 a.m. For $15, you get instruction, equipment and bait needed to catch the big one! Upstairs, you can book Oceanview Hall for your wedding reception, corporate retreat or holiday party. The Pier is surrounded by beautiful, wide public beaches with free parking and a bath house including outdoor showers. With its family atmosphere, Jennette’s offers something for everyone.
Anglers can find everything they need for a day of fishing inside the pier house. Rods can be rented by the day for $10 (photo ID required). Inside the Pier Shop, you can find that special t-shirt to commemorate your visit as well as hats, flip flops, jewelry and gift items that all have a beachy feel. Check out the kid’s corner too. Various cold drinks, snacks and milkshakes along with all types of rod and reel combos can be found inside the pier house. Naturally, there’s plenty of bait and tackle for sale as well. The Pier has a blanket license for all anglers, so you do not need a fishing license. A daily fishing pass is good all day and night until the pier closes; call for hours as they change with the seasons.
A three-day pass costs $36, and a seven-day pass costs $80 (children pay half price on passes). Ask about prices for annual passes, family passes and pin rig passes.
The education department holds week-long summer camps, hosts school groups on field trips and teaches our "Fishing 101" classes. Down on the beaches, there are often surfing events, foot races and even wedding ceremonies. For more information give us a call and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Jennette’s is open year round except Christmas Day. In season, May through October, hours are 6 a.m. to midnight every day; off-season hours are reduced and vary so call ahead.
